Frequently Asked Questions

What guidelines and/or regulations will SRSRC’s School Year Camp Program follow?

We will follow all up to date guidelines and regulations produced by the State of California, CDC, CDPH and the CDE.

Will my child be required to wear a mask or face covering?

Yes. Currently regulations from the State of California require all individuals over the age of 2 to wear a mask or face covering.

What kind of health screening will happen for campers?

All campers and staff working within the program will have their temperature checked each morning, and with the help of parents, answer a list of questions to determine if any COVID-19 symptoms are shown.

Will distance learning be accommodated during the camp schedule?

We will have schoolwork/homework time scheduled within our half day options. We will attempt to accommodate virtual distance learning in respect to whole class, small groups and tutoring meetings with our full day option.

If I decide not to sign up my child for the School Year Camp Program, will I lose my spot for the following school year of 2021-22 if I was previously registered for before and after school care for 2020-2021?

No, SRSRC will add you to the top of the individual program waitlist that you are currently registered for. Example: if you have a 2nd grader registered for AAF this year, they will be at the top of the AAF waitlist as a 3rd grader.

What is included in the cost?

Cost considerations include staffing with smaller counselor to participant ratios, a limited participant capacity, extra cleaning/sanitizing expenses and staff hours, and other variables. We have also made comparisons between other local childcare and similar program costs, and feel that the cost of care is reasonable and lower than other day-long programs.

What type of activities will my children participate in throughout the day?

Very similar to our current Summer Camp Program. Ratio of 1:12, grouped by grades as feasible with rotations of art, science, games and academic accommodations.

What happens if the San Diego Unified School District makes changes to their academic offerings that would impact School Year Camps?

If the San Diego Unified School District makes changes to their learning plan, we will do our best to make modifications to our program to best serve the needs of our camp families. If this occurs, we will notify those who are registered.

A personal note from Ms Monica

I am happy to report that over all we have had a very successful Summer Camp program allowing kiddos to have a platform to have fun, socialize, and be creative all while being safe and considerate of families needs and comfort level. I am more than happy to answer any questions you may have or address concerns. As some of you may know, Mr. Jon and I are proud parents of 4 and together have also made “best” decisions for our children and stay actively involved with the San Diego Unified School District through Parent Think Tanks, resources, teachers and other connections. It is always an honor to serve your family and we are very grateful for the opportunity to continue that service during this challenging school year.
