Counselor in Training, Summer 2008: Click for printable pdf

Are you interested in becoming a summer camp counselor in the future? Our Counselor In Training (CIT) program is your chance to learn what it takes to become a camp counselor. Completions of the training will include certification in CPR & First Aid.

• CIT In-Camp (attend two):
  Session 3: July 7–July 11 • Sesson 4: July 14–July 18 • Session 5: July21–July25
• Cost: Members $25 per session • Non-members $35 per session
• Ages: 16–18 • Must be 16 by June 23, 2008.

Adventure (itinerary 58)
• Session 5 (Knott’s Berry Farm) • (Camps geared to ages 6-12) • $180 members $225 non-members
• Session 8 (Disneyland) (Camps geared to ages 6-12) • $195 members $240 non-members

Adventure camp is for the adventure seekers! Campers will explore a wide range of venues with each day exploring a different theme. Trips may include Zoo, Sea World, Beaches, Boomers, & more! This camp will also offer a BIG TRIP with extended hours (8:00am-8:00pm) to Knott's Berry Farm OR Disneyland (listed on specific session above) on Thursday!

Amazing Animal Camp (itinerary 110)
• Sessions 1 & 10 (Camps geared to ages 4-8) • Must be 5 by December 31, 2008 • $165 members • $205 non-members
Take a journey into our animal kingdom! Enjoy shows and hands on activities w/ lizards, snakes, amphibians, mammals, etc. Special guests may include Krusin Kritters and Radical Reptiles.

Art (itinerary 47)
• Sessions 4 & 7 (Camps geared to ages 5-12) • $160 members • $200 non-members
Join Ms. Teena to gain self confidence while developing visual skills. Art Camp is designed for the camper who enjoys creative activities and expressing their ideas through art. There will be many take home projects throughout the week.

Babysitting (itinerary 310)
• Sessions 3 & 10 (Camps geared to ages 10-14) • $160 members • $200 non-members
Want to earn a little extra spending money? Become a certified babysitter through the Emergency Care and Safety Institute (ECSI). Campers must be present the entire time in order to receive this certification. Play out unpredictable scenarios to help prepare you to become an outstanding babysitter!

Basketball (itinerary 7)
• Session 7 (Camps geared to ages 6-12) • $155 members • $193 non-members
• Dribble • Pass • Shoot!

Campers will learn skills, drills, participate in tournaments, and create t-shirt jerseys. Parents are encouraged to suit up to come and shoot hoops against your basketball stars on Thursday.

Big Splash (itinerary 1)
• Session 1 (Camps geared to ages 5-12) • $165 members • $205 non-members
Campers will visit local water attractions and
participate in events designed just for kids! Campers will have a blast at our "water day" where they will participate in relays, water wars, and water games at the Club!

Bowling (itinerary 48)
• Sessions 4 & 8 (Camps geared to ages 5-12)$165 members • $205 non-members
Calling all bowlers! Have a nice cool day at the bowling alley followed by a dip in the pool with friends. Our bowlers will rock and bowl to the tunes at the Mira Mesa Lanes.

Camp California (itinerary 26)
• Sessions 2 & 6(Camps geared to ages 5-12) • $170 members • $212 non-members
Oh what a beautiful state California is! Where else can you possibly enjoy the beach, snorkeling, a water park and spend a day at the Club? Only in Camp California!

Cheerleading (itinerary 59)
• Sessions 5 & 9(Camps geared to ages 6-12) • $160 members $200 non-members
This high energy camp offers basic instruction in cheers and choreographed dance movements and routines. On Thursday, campers will possibly practice their moves & cheer for another camp. This session ends with a performance for family and friends on Friday.

Cooking (itinerary 38)
• Sessions 3 & 8 • (Camps geared to ages 6-12) • $155 members $193 non-members
Get ready for a Feast! Campers may make recipe books and/or aprons. They will present a theme lunch for their parents on Thursday. Campers will learn about kitchen safety and will get plenty of hands on experience with food preparation of various recipes.

Dance (itinerary 28)
• Sessions 2 & 8 • (Camps geared to ages 6-12) • $165 members • $205 non-members
Get ready to move and groove! Learn a variety of different moves that correspond with a unique routine for all ages. Campers will put on their dancing shoes and get ready for a parent performance on Friday. May include a special guest.

Design in Mixed Media (NEW!) (itinerary 9)
• Session 8 • (Camps geared to ages 6-12) • $170 members • $212 non-members
Do you like painting, origami, drawing, working w/ clay, designing masks, etc.? If so, join practicing artist, Susan Bainbridge, in expanding past the basics of art in this fun camp! Campers will participate Monday through Thursday about 3 hrs per day. Each day will include some take home projects. For more detail see www.artstart1.com

Destination Science: (NEW!) Zero G Rocketry Science (itinerary 5)
* Session 5 • (Camps geared to ages 5-12) • $175 members • $215 non-members
Prepare to launch rockets! Pull the trigger and launch your own Giant Supersonic Blaster Rocket skyward. Build your own mallow launcher, go on a comet quest and uncover hematite craters, solve the mystery of spaceballs, create a floam alien and more!

Destination Science: (NEW!) Techno Robo Transformers (itinerary 6)
• Session 6 • (Camps geared to ages 5-12) • $175 members • $215 non-members
Gear up for the next generation of robot transformers! Use the power of science to build your own electronic creation, to battle and race in our robo pit. Step up to EG’s, super sonic sound rock and roll studio, the magical microscope, and giant slimy polymer touchable bubbles. This camp is Electrifying and powered by fun!

Destination Science: (NEW!) Wild Animal Physics Fun Park (itinerary 7)
• Session 7 • (Camps geared to ages 5-12) • $175 members • $215 non-members
Experiment and see how things can flash, fizz, stick and glow while building your own fun physics carnival with magnetic rollercoasters and games. Step out to the wild side of science. Meet “Speedy” a real desert tortoise as you create your own wild animal park complete with an awesome ocean, a radiant rainforest and a dry desert.

Dive Camps (itinerary 3, 5, 7, 9)
• Session 3, 5, 7, 9 • (Camps geared to ages 8-12) • $165 members • $205 non-members
Campers of all skill levels from beginner to advanced are welcome. Divers will learn the basics of 1 meter springboard diving, which includes learning diving safety, fundamental skills, and more advanced skills for those campers who have had diving experience before. Towards the end of the camp week, family and friends are invited to our Mini-Dive Meet that showcases what each diver has learned. Dive camps will participate in “Fun in the Sun Friday.” Camp limited to 12 campers

Drama: Actors Playhouse (itinerary 1)
• Session 1 • (Camps geared to ages 7-14) • $160 members • $200 non-members
Join us as we, our campers, use their creativity to deliver a great play- created, directed, and performed entirely by- THEM! Campers will explore all aspects of theatre from acting and directing, to set design, and more. Our campers will bring the house down during the End of Camp DKI Playhouse Presentation.

Extreme Wiffleball (itinerary 6)
• Session 6 • (Camps geared to ages 7-12) • $155 members • $193 non-members
Hit the ball out of the park with SRSRC Staff in Extreme Wiffleball Camp! Campers will learn and practice fielding, batting, and other basic rules and skills of the game, which are very similar to baseball. They will also get the experience of hitting from a pitching machine! Campers will participate in tournament games throughout the week, which will prepare them for the Parent verses Camper game on Thursday!

Fern St. Circus (itinerary 6)
• Session 6 • (Camps geared to ages 7-12) • $180 members • $225 non-members
Want to join the circus? Come join the Fern St. Circus crew at Golden Hill Rec Center for some "clowning around!” Campers may learn various circus skills such as acrobatics, tumbling, clowning and juggling. Circus skills will be taught by professional working artisits! This camp will conclude with a fun-filled Friday at the Club!

Flag Football (itinerary 59)
• Sessions 5 & 9 • (Camps geared to ages 7-12) • $155 members • $193 non-members
Campers will receive instruction on basic fundamentals, such as; receiving, passing, strategies and other techniques. Campers will also participate in tournaments and scrimmages to prepare them for the Parent verses Camper game on Thursday afternoon.

Great Outdoors (itinerary 7)
• Session 7 • (Camps geared to ages 6-12) • $170 members • $212 non-members
Campers will experience all areas of the great outdoors as they see nature at its best! Campers may engage in activities such as: hiking, rock climbing, swimming and other outdoor events. Campers may also visit places like Solid Rock, Scripps Birch Aquarium and the ocean.

Gymnastics (NEW!) (itinerary 7)
• Session 7 • (Camps geared to ages 7-14) • $180 members • $225 non-members
Come join us for some gymnastics fun at one of our local gyms! We will be utilizing local gymnastics and tumbling & trampoline facilities for lessons, as well as for free time spent on the gymnastics equipment. Lessons may include fundamental skills for tumbling, trampoline, vault, balance beam, and floor. This camp is open to all skill levels from beginner to advanced.

Horseback Riding (NEW!) (itinerary 6)
• Session 6 • (Camps geared to ages 7-14) • $265 members • $330 non-members
Come ride with us at Sweetwater Horse Camp! Campers will learn the basics of horses and riding, while practicing safety. Campers will be divided into small groups and go through rotations. Instruction will be three hours per day, with other camp activities to make it a full day. Be sure to arrive at the club by 8:15 and expect campers to be back to the club by 4pm. Campers are required to wear long pants and boots with flat soles and low heels.

Ice Skating (itinerary 39)
• Sessions 3 & 9 • (Camps geared to ages 7-12) • $165 members • $205 non-members
Campers will be taken to the San Diego Ice Arena for a 30 minute lesson Monday through Thursday, followed by a 2 hour Summer Camp Public Session, where mascot Ice Qub will skate to the latest music and other famous dance songs.

Jr. Lifeguard (itinerary 1, 4, 8)
• Sessions 1, 4, 8 • (Camps geared to ages 10 -14) • $155 members • $193 non-members
Campers will learn lifeguarding techniques for pools, and will be introduced to some basic fundamentals of beach guarding. Campers will learn basic rescue skills, first aid skills, and may also be introduced to CPR technique. At the end of the camp, each camper will receive a certificate of completion. Jr. Lifeguard Camp will participate in “Fun in the Sun Friday.” Camp limited to 12 campers per session.

Laser Tag (itinerary 2579)
• Sessions 2, 5, 7 & 9 • (Camps geared to ages 7-12) • $175 members • $215 non-members
Enter Ultra Zone, the ultimate laser adventure in San Diego. Be transported to a futuristic other world. Campers will engage in two games per day and spend a maximum of two hours. Campers will focus on team objectives - scoring points and capturing your opponents' bases. Certain sessions may include trips to Chuck E. Cheese.

LEGOLAND: (NEW!) Land of Adventure (itinerary 5)
• Session 5 • (Camps geared to ages 6 -12) • $175 members • $215 non-members
Join the Land of Adventure at Legoland! This camp will partake in 2 hours of Land of Adventure fun, which may include; Lost Kingdom Adventure targets with lasers, building adventure scenes, deciphering hieroglyphs, mummy relays and more! Each day they will spend some extra time exploring the park w/ the SRSRC staff visiting some of the attractions such as SEA LIFE Aquarium, which is NEW this summer!
